CBCT Scanner

CBCT stands for “cone beam computed tomography.” This scanner acts as a 3D x-ray that provides more detailed images of the mouth and head. It relies on small and concentrated amounts of radiation to capture and create dental and facial images. It may be used for new patients or to diagnose or treat more complex dental issues.

Dental Technology

Intraoral Camera

Intraoral cameras are designed to help dentists and patients alike understand what is happening inside the mouth. The small wand can be moved around the mouth to capture images. Once the images have been amalgamated into a clear picture, these images can be examined and manipulated on a screen. Our dentists may use the intraoral camera to provide you with information about how to care for your teeth, or information about current dental issues or potential treatment options.

Dental Technology

iTero Scanner

The iTero scanner is used extensively in treatment planning. It offers a way to create digital impressions of the mouth, which can then be used to create solutions for a variety of dental issues. One of the main uses for the iTero scanner is to create Invisalign trays, which slowly shift the teeth into more optimal positions (much like traditional braces). This is a more comfortable and accurate way to take impressions of the teeth.

Dental Technology

Dental Lasers

Dental lasers have a wide variety of uses in dentistry and dental laser technology is constantly evolving. Lasers provide a safe and effective way to look for changes in the hard and soft tissues of the mouth. They can also be used for preparing an area of the mouth for treatment, and have a unique anti-bacterial quality that helps ensure cleanliness and prevents infections from developing.

Dental Technology

VELscope

The VELscope is a tool used in oral cancer screenings. The tool is a simple blue light that can be shone into a patient’s mouth to look for changes to the soft tissues. The light changes depending on whether tissue is normal or abnormal. We may use this tool to help check for signs of oral cancer at your regular dental examinations.
